The Immortal Wars Resurgence
The film starts with Kailasam (Ravi Kale), the somber bigwig who is performing the last rites of someone dear to him, but the appearance of Kottai (Jiiva) (first in the chaotic Koovagam festival and later atop a Veeranam pipe) swinging a scythe maniacally sets the tone for the rest of the film.
Cut to the flashback a few months ago: In Ramnad, Kottai’s mother (Saranya Ponvannan) is cutting down logs and boasting about her son: he is a god who deserves to see the outside world and derive its benefits. Kottai journeys to big bad Chennai in company with Vellaiyan (Ganja Karuppu), who dances with every Karagattam dancer on the roadside, makes lewd jokes, and appears to have only one thing on his mind. They end up at the massive home of Kailasam, the local terror who slices up people whenever he can. However, our heroes are unaware of the fact.
The movie begins with an investigation of a girl who has been dead along with a small vessel. That small vessel is actually a weapon as it contains explosive chemicals (a bomb named “Ophalaska”) with its changing colours.
Now comes the quarreling between two gangs, in which one gang is headed by Sarveshwaran (R. Sarathkumar). He lives in Kumbakonam along with his men. Another scene opens in Pollachi, where Surya (R. Sarathkumar) is an unemployed youth. He lives in a bungalow with his joint family. Maha (Meera Nandan) falls in love with Surya. Surya sees a metal sheet written in Chinese. When he magnifies that, he sees a Chinese script along with some Tamil words.
Thulasi takes Meera to a hill station, where the girl starts behaving mysteriously. Thulasi soon learns that Meera is possessed by a spirit. The spirit was of a girl’s who once resided in the hotel with her father. Once her father gets a lump amount as he had a profit, but his friend gets to know and he blackmails him by saying that he kidnapped his daughter and her father unknowingly gives his friend and he doesn’t who the guy was blackmailing he tells this to his friend without knowing he was the one who blackmailed him. He says to his friend that he us going to lodge a complaint his friend suggests him not to but the father proceeds, while having lunch with his only daughter unknown to him and his daughter the food is mixed with poison and his friend brings a local gang and makes the murder look like a suicide, and the spirit narrates to thulasi in the midst thulasi learns that if the spirit stays in her daughter’s body her daughter will survive so she pleads the spirit stay and even the spirit agrees but the guy learns this he goes to kill thulasi and her child but instead he slips from the cliff and the spirit apologies as this was her wish and thus leaves thulasi’s body and thulasi wants to see her daughter live so she calls the doctor and requests him to take her daughter along with him to India and leave her daughter in her hometown and says she will soon leave all and commits suicide so that as a spirit she can enter her body in order to save her from her disease.
Bogan is about a police officer vikram played by Jayam ravi on his way to find a culprit on a bank theft case, happens to chase Adhithya, played by Arvind swami. Soon after vikram arrests Adhithya by a brilliant plan, the film takes its next level, with a terrific intervel block. Film is racy post interval and ends up as an above average thriller with fantastic performnace from Arvind swami and Jayam Ravi. Film has an adapted theme from some hollywood films, still makes a mark with racy script but has flaws with forceful afdition of songs and commercial must haves of tamil cinema.
