Krishna Kumar (Prabhu Deva) is a happy go lucky Tamilian who works in Mumbai. He spends his time searching for his dream girl. He wants his life partner to be educated and have supermodel looks. He doesn’t want a country girl for a wife. His grandmother is on her deathbed and his father wants him to get married. His father with the aid of his grandmother chooses a girl from their village. He tries many times to stop the marriage but nothing works. He gets married to the girl, Devi (Tamannaah) unwillingly. He tries to get rid of her and shifts to a new house to hide her from his friends.

After failing in his love life, Dev finds company in alcohol. In his state, he often sees an old man who gives him hints on how his day is going to turn out. One day, he accidentally bumps into a young boy from a shelter home. He realises there is an uncanny similarity between the boy and his ex-girlfriend, so he decides to get to know the boy further only to uncover something Dev didn’t wish he knew in the first place.

Ranganayaki (Vadivukkarasi), a rich women, has three sons : Gopi (Pandu), Madhu (Chinni Jayanth) and Balu (Ramki). Ranganayaki wants absolutely a grandson and she will pass on her whole inheritance to her son who has a male child. The elder sons have only daughters and Balu is still a bachelor.
Balu is a singer in the marriage functions and he falls in love with Swathi (Kushboo), a girl from a middle-class family. He gets married to her and Swathi becomes pregnant. Balu’s best friend, Raja (Vivek), an honest journalist, is married to Shanthi (Anju Aravind) and his wife is also pregnant. Swathi and Shanthi deliver the same day. Balu has a daughter although Raja has a son.
In the meantime, Ranganayaki has a severe heart attack and the doctor says to not reveal shock news. In the hospital, a misunderstanding happens and Balu’s father shows Raja’s son to Ranganayaki in a serious condition. Ranganayaki is immediately recovered. Balu maintains the lie to save his mother’s life. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.
