A fantasy thriller inspired by the folklore of Kerala, the film follows the life and times of Manickyan – the legendary sorcerer and one of the last in the Odiyan clan, which is known for its supernatural powers that often defy the laws of nature.

Johny (G. V. Prakash Kumar) is a happy-go-lucky guy who is mistaken as a notorious gangster by his lover Hema’s (Anandhi) father Dass (Saravanan) aka Naina, an ageing gangster who wants a person to replace him as the Naina in Royapuram and become his son-in-law. Johny has a disease which causes him to repeat his previous words if he sees blood. How Johny eliminates his rivals and becomes the next Naina forms the rest of the story.

The film begins with happening in the cornfields in a village in South India, where a British forest ranger, who is in charge of the fields, has been alerted by some strange noises coming from deep inside the fields. He sets out with his dog and searches for the source of this strange noise, then suddenly the dog is being dragged inside and brutally killed by an unknown beast creature. Then, the forest ranger is also dragged inside and killed by the creature. Then the film shifts to the 1970s, where a college farewell party for Sir Arthur Wellington College is taking place. Two college friends, Amudhan and Vendhan, who is the son of the alcoholic college watchman Vethagiri, have decided to stay back in the college hostel and spend the vacation there.

Lingam (Sakthi), the younger son of Nasser, leads life in his own way. He along with his set of friends (which includes Santhanam and ‘Lollu Sabha’ Jeeva) goes around town enjoying. But Lingam’s father is against his ways. He often compares him with his elder brother Chandran (Adhitya Menon), who runs a software firm in Hyderabad and is caring towards the family. After their marriage, Chandran takes Indira to Hyderabad. But she comes across a startling truth that Chandran is none but a dreaded don in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh and that had hid this truth to his family. The onus now falls on Lingam to set things right. He promises Indira and Radhika that he would bring his brother back to right ways. But a hindrance to his mission is Boppala Ram Babu (Ravi Kale), who has a score to settle with Chandran. Does Lingam succeeds in his mission or not forms the climax.
