A seemingly down-to-earth guy Arun (Arvind Swamy) leads a life of a computer hacker by day and thief by night. When he meets Madhu (Isha Koppikar) whom he fancies, he wishes to turn over a new leaf. But Arun’s rogue brother, who has been blackmailing him since young to do his dirty deeds, does not think likewise. A deep love-hate relationship between them which unfolded during their childhood days traps Arun into a life of crime. How Arun chooses between his family and love forms the crux of the story.

Mudhal Kadhal Mazhai
Kaali (Karthi) is an impulsive and short-tempered working class man who works in an IT company and enjoys playing football during his free time. His best friend is Anbu (Kalaiyarasan), who is a young political aspirant. They along with their gang live in the dilapidated flats of the housing board in Vyasarpadi, North Chennai. In a long-standing bloody feud, two factions of a political party have been laying claim to a wall on which they can paint the portraits of their respective political leaders. Anbu, under the local leader of one of the opposing parties, Maari (Charles Vinoth), is determined to claim that wall for their own party. The other party chief is Kannan (Poster Nandakumar) and his son Perumal (Mime Gopi) who are hell bent in making sure that their opponents efforts go in vain. The painting of Kannan’s father’s face has been on the wall for two decades, since the start of the feud. The two parties and their supporters get into frequent clashes and scrapes. In the meantime, Kaali falls in love with Kalaiarasi (Catherine Tresa), and she too reciprocates his feelings.
Kalyan (Murali), a talented magician, works with his friend and assistant Ramesh (Ramesh Khanna). Kalyan’s mother (Sathyapriya) insists him to get married soon and she finds a bride for him. Kalyan has a different view on marriage and he first wants to know all about his bride. With the marriage broker (Vaiyapuri) and Ramesh, Kalyan leaves his house to see his supposed bride.

Thirupathi is widely respected by everyone in the family and was responsible for bringing back their family to a good state after financial troubles a few years back. He gets married to Bharathi (Devayani), who is a lot more responsible and kind to everyone. Madhavan (Murali) is the second son in the family who assists Thirupathi in managing their provisional store. He is innocent and gets married to his relative Renuka (Rambha), but she is short-tempered and picks up quarrels often. Kannan (Abbas) is the third son in the family, and he goes to college where he falls for his classmate Viji (Sneha). Viji is the only daughter of a rich arrogant man (Vijayakumar). Surya (Shyam Ganesh) is the youngest son and studies in college.
