After Chennai-based Shakhti Mathur gets into fisticuffs with goons, his mother, Kamini, decides to send him to her parents’ house in the country. He re-locates there, and ends up falling in love with Neelima Pandey, who is betrothed to Karan Joshi, and the only daughter of Shankar Pandey, who has total control over a town called Thiruvatchi. When Shankar finds out, he has Neelima forcibly abducted, even cancels her wedding with Karan, and decides to wed her to Bhairav. Shakthi’s attempts to rescue her will not only jeopardize his life – but also the lives of his parents – who are being held captive by an enraged Shankar and his army of goons.

Poovellam Kettupar
Two music directors Bharathi (Vijayakumar) and Kannan (Nassar) used to be friends and composed music together. After Kannan has a fight with the director of their movie, Bharathi who feels embarrassed decided to split from Kannan and compose the music for the film by himself. He offers Kannan the chance to reconcile after this movie. Kannan rejects this and instead gives details about the fallout to the newspaper and Bharathi ends up losing the movie deal. A war begins and both music directors hate each other and can’t even stand to hear the other’s name. Bharathi is very successful while Kannan, who is basically unknown, drinks away his sorrows.

Mumbai Express
Three amateur thieves plot to kidnap the young son of wealthy Chettiar (Santhana Bharathi) from school. They do a trial run. However, on the eve of the kidnap, the guy whose job is to operate a crane in this plan is hospitalized. The services of Avinasi a.k.a. Mumbai Xpress (Kamal Haasan), brother of Kovai Sarala, a deaf stuntman performing daredevil bike acts, is roped in. Twists and turns take place where the other two gang members are hurt, and invariably, our Mumbai Xpress is left to perform the task all by himself. He kidnaps a wrong boy Daddu (Hardhik), the illegitimate son of Ahalya (Manisha Koirala) and police officer Rao (Nassar), but manages to get a huge ransom from Chettiar by default. A brawl takes place between the original kidnap planners – Chidambaram (Pasupathy), Johnson (Vaiyapuri), and Avinasi – in handling Ahalya’s child, but Avinasi delivers the child unhurt to his mother.

English Vinglish
Shashi Godbole is a homemaker who makes and sells laddoos as a home-run business. Her husband Satish and daughter Sapna take her for granted, mock her poor English skills, and generally treat her with disrespect, making Shashi feel negative and insecure. However, her young son, Sagar loves her as she is, and her mother-in-law offers her words of sympathy.
Shashi’s older sister Manu, who lives in New York, invites Shashi’s family to her daughter Meera’s wedding to Kevin. It is decided that Shashi will go to New York alone five weeks before the wedding to help Manu organize. Her husband and children will join her as the wedding approaches. During her flight to New York, Shashi is given inspirational advice by a fellow passenger (Amitabh Bachchan in Hindi/Ajith Kumar in Tamil). While Shashi is in New York, she has a traumatic experience at a cafe due to her inability to communicate in English. She is comforted by a French chef Laurent who happened to be queuing up behind her at the cafe.
Using the money she made from selling laddoos, Shashi secretly enrolls in a conversational English class that offers to teach the language in four weeks, showing her resourcefulness at navigating an unfamiliar city alone. The class comprises David Fischer, the instructor; Eva, a Mexican nanny; Salman Khan, a Pakistani cab driver; Yu Son, a Chinese hairstylist; Ramamurthy, a Tamil software engineer; Udumbke, a closeted African-Caribbean man; and Laurent. Shashi quickly becomes a promising and committed student, earns everyone’s respect with her charming behavior and her cuisine, and gains self-confidence. Laurent becomes attracted to Shashi. When he tries to kiss her at the rooftop of a building, Shashi rejects him and runs off, but fails to explain that she is married.

Mudhal Idam
Mahesh (Vidharth) is a thug in Thanjavur whose only ambition is to emerge as the Number 1 rowdy with his name topping the list of wanted criminals in the local police station. He is called ‘Yamakunji’ (junior lord of dead) by his friends, for he wants to send fear in the spine of his opponents. He indulges in all unlawful activities to achieve his mission. For his mother (Kalairani), he is the best son on earth. She earns her livelihood running an idly shop. Mahesh meets Mythili (Kavitha Nair), a school student and daughter of a bus conductor Ponnusamy (Ilavarasu). Mythili falls for him; however, Ponnusamy opposes their affair. Things take a turn when Karuppu Balu (Kishore), the number one rowdy in the area, comes out of jail. Mahesh incurs the wrath of the aspiring MLA for no fault of his. Things take a turn when Mythili elopes from her house and Mahesh is forced to kill Balu. The movie ends with a strong message.

Thozha
Vikramadhitya is a wealthy entrepreneur who owns a group of businesses. In Paris, a paragliding accident leaves him a quadriplegic. To ensure his girlfriend Nandini’s happiness, Vikramadhitya’s friend and legal adviser, Prasad, conveys a message on his behalf that he is not interested in marrying her.
Five years later, Vikramadhitya leads a hopeless life with his secretary Keerthi, his cook Lakshmi, and a few servants. He and Keerthi interview candidates for a caretaker position; many seem pretentious and manipulative. Seenu, a paroled convict, applies for the job in accordance with his lawyer’s (Lingam) advice; the job would prove to the court that Seenu is leading a law-abiding life, closing his case. He is detested by his mother (a railway clerk) and his siblings, Swathi and Kanna.
