Surya (Allu Arjun) is an soldier in the Indian Army who suffers from anger management issues and dreams of being posted at the LOC. After getting into a brawl at a local club and attacking Inspector Pradeep Negi (Ravi Kale) and stealing the latter’s gun, Surya uses it to shoot dead a terrorist right when the officer comes to ask for his gun from Surya’s senior Col. Sanjay Shrivastav (Boman Irani). After being court martialled for indisciplinary action, Surya’s godfather (Rao Ramesh) requests Shrivastav to give Surya a final chance. Shrivastav agrees on the condition that Surya gets a signature of approval from the country’s top psychologist and the Dean of the Institution of Psychology and Foreign Languages, Dr. Ramakrishna Raju (Arjun Sarja), who happens to be Surya’s estranged father.
The film is about a bad cop Mithran (Kishore), who utilizes the useless and violent youngster to indulge in conniving activities only to get his pockets overwhelmed with profit. Vinoth (Magesh Kumar) is his right pick as he heeds for his orders and he’s one such cruel guy, who beats his mother black and blue for money. Saranya enacts his mother’s role and she completely possesses the qualities of yesteryear mother in Tamil cinema. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Nivedha (Udhayathara) and even she falls for him. When things are going finer, his life turns topsy-turvy when his mother passes away. He starts feeling a lot missing her. Rajiv (Naveen) is a final-year student and also the son of a rich couple (Ramakrishna and Chitra Shenoy). His family friend’s daughter Krithika (Roma Asrani), a very shy girl, comes to stay in their house. She joins the same school as him as a first-year student, Rajiv helps her in many ways. At the college admission day, Rajiv falls under the spell of the fresher Pragathi (Shrutha Keerthi). Krithika later left their home and moves to the college hostel. One day, Krithika falls sick and Rajiv takes care of her, therefore she falls in love with him. Every day, Krithika records her love for Rajiv in a journal in her computer. Whereas Rajiv is attracted by Pragathi’s friendly approach, speech and graceful look. Rajiv does not have the courage to convey his love to Pragathi. On the final day of college, Rajiv reveals to Krithika that he is in love with her classmate Pragathi, Krithika is therefore heartbroken. Rajiv then proposes his love to Pragathi, but she doesn’t reciprocate his love and humiliates him.
Saravana (Silambarasan) and Krishna (Krishna) are close buddies in college. Saravana sees a video tape of Krishna’s sister Sadhana (Jyothika) studying in London and falls in love with her. So to meet her, Saravana goes with Krishna to a village near Tirunelveli where he finds that there is a bloody war going on between two warring caste groups. Krishna’s brother Soundarapandi (Prakash Raj) his wife and Krishna are killed by the rival group of Dorai Singam. However Saravana saves Sadhana and takes her to Chennai. Initially Sadhana is not accepted by Saravana’s large family but slowly when they come to know about her background they support and love her. The rest of the film is how Saravana tries to help Sadhana to go back to London, and in the process eliminates the entire gang of Dorai Singam single-handedly.
