The Elder One concerns itself with an arduous quest to find a missing relative. Stealing a small and hardly seaworthy fishing boat, 14-year-old Mulla flees the sleepy, idyllic island of Lakshadweep for the crowded bustle of Mumbai. Akbar, Mulla’s elder brother, left for the city some years before, and Mulla – with only a phone number to rely on – is convinced the two can reunite there. But upon arrival, Mulla immediately falls in with a gang of criminal orphans, receiving a crash course in survival skills for Mumbai’s criminal underground. In the midst of Mulla’s story, Mohandas takes us back to the days leading up to Akbar’s departure from Lakshadweep, when he met mute Ameer sent to the island for an unwanted arranged marriage. A young agriculturist Velu (Kamal Hassan) goes to extremes to attain revenge against his devious landlord and her family. He is an upright young man, but when his family gets cheated out of money, he decides it’s time to take a stand. The underworld don Billa (Ajith Kumar), featured on Interpol’s criminal list, is hiding and operating out of Malaysia. DSP Jayaprakash (Prabhu) has spent the last few years looking for Billa, leaving behind a life in India.
During a chase with the police, Billa is severely wounded after an accident and dies in front of the DSP. The DSP then secretly holds a burial of Billa. Interpol officer Gokulnath (Rahman) is assigned to work with DSP Jayaprakash to capture elusive Billa as no-one knows of Billa’s death. DSP Jayaprakash keeps the death of Billa as a secret even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Saravana Velu (Ajith Kumar), a lowly pick-pocket. He asks Velu to infiltrate Billa’s gang by pretending to be Billa. In return he will make sure that the child Velu adopted, Karan, gets a proper education.
Pandi And his friends comes across a deaf woman Kadhambari (Nayantara) and Pandi immediately falls in love with her. Kadhambari is the daughter of a sincere police officer Ravikumar (Azhagam Perumal)because his father loves police profession, who is in pursuit of Killivallavan aka Killi (Parthiban), a dreaded gangster and politician who had killed Ravikumar’s wife and had caused Kadhambari to lose her hearing in her childhood. Kadhambari seeks Pandi’s help in finding her father, who has not spoken to her for the past two days, to which he agrees. Pandi soon learns that Ravikumar had been killed by Killi, but hides the matter from Kadhambari as it would make her upset. But Kadhambari learns about her father’s death from Meena Kumari and is determined to revenge his death by going after Killi and killing him. Pandi agrees to help her in her mission, with the promise that he will hold Killi’s shoulders while she stabs him.

Romeo lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bangalore, India, along with his widowed mother. But Romeo survives, is looked after by tribal people, and several months later returns to Bangalore to expose Raj – only to find a look-alike, a Chandaal (Hindu Undertaker) named Badshah, from Bombay, has taken over his life, identity, love, and is residing in his very own home!
