IP MAN – The Awakening

The movie revolves around Easwaran alias E (Jiiva), an orphan brought up in the musty, teeming slums of Chennai by an old woman. For him, money is the thing in life. He comes across Jothy (Nayantara), a bar dancer who settles down in the same locality. After a few encounters, they get acquainted with each other. E’s simple ways attract Jothy. Coming to know of E’s past, Jothy tries desperately to correct his ways and set him on the right path. Meanwhile, Dr. Ramakrishnan (Ashish Vidyarthi) takes up the task of testing a medicine devised by a foreign company, which may come handy in killing people in thousands, especially during times of war. Ramakrishnan chooses Jothy’s sister and E’s grandmother as specimens for the test. He cashes in on the ignorance to slum dwellers. Things take a turn when E rescues Ramakrishnan from a murder bid by Nellai Mani (Pasupathy). A sequence of events brings Mani and E together. Without knowing Mani’s motive, E hides him in a secret place and decides to hand him over to Ramakrishnan for a huge sum. Slowly, E gets attracted by Mani’s good ways. Through him, E comes to know of Ramakrishnan’s ulterior motives. Mani, a revolutionary fighting for a cause, tries to bring about a change in E’s heart. Succeeding in his attempt, Mani lays down his life, leaving E to complete his task. The rest is all about how E puts an end to Ramakrishnan and his evil ways.

Kadikara Manithargal
The story revolves around Maran (Kishore), who works in a bakery. He and his wife (Latha Rao) are searching for a house to rent. A shady broker (Scissor Manohar) gets Maran a house under his budget, but he has to face the sanctions of the house owner (Bala Singh) if he wants to stay in the house. The house owner will only allow a family of four, but Maran has three children, making it five members in his family, including him and his wife. Maran has no other option, so he lies to the house owner and hides one of his kids in the box which he uses to load his bakery goods..[5]

Durai
Raja (Arjun) works with a cook Arusuvai Ambi (Vivek). Raja comes across Anjali (Kirat Bhattal), who catches his interest. She falls for Raja, but he cannot remember anything of his past. All he recollects are vague images and memories that disturb him in his sleep. After a sequence of events and a chase by rowdies, Raja collects his past.
Raja, a year ago, was Durai, the close associate of honest politician Deivanayagam (K. Viswanath). Durai, who leads a happy life with his wife Meena (Gajala) and son, is hesitant to assume the post. Anjali, a reporter, pursues him for interviews and falls in love. Deivanayagam is killed, and the blame falls on Dorai. His wife and son are murdered. Eventually, Dorai alias Raja takes on his enemies and cracks the truth behind Deivanayakam’s death. Action oozes all the way.

Kannodu Kanbathellam
Sitharam (Arjun) is a well respected auditor who lives with his PA Muthuswami (Anu Mohan) in Chennai. Although being a short-tempered and tensed person, Sitharam is very good at heart who helps the people in need. He soon meets and falls in love with Kalyani (Sonali Bendre). After a couple of meetings she too falls in love with him by seeing his good nature.
But Sitharam faces problems in the form of another loving couple, Akash (Suchindra) and Akhila (Ruchita) due to an argument between Akhila and Akash and Akhila acts as Sitaram’s fiancé so that she can get rid of Akash just before he proposes to Kalyani. Kalyani, being an innocent, believes her words and goes away from Sitharam. Hence, Sitharam becomes the main antagonist of the film to make the lives of Akash and Akhila the living hells.

Based on the story of Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri, faction leaders who were involved in a long and gory orgy of violence and killings in Adhra Pradesh, “Ratha Sarithiram” is about Surya (Suriya) trying to take revenge on Prathap Ravi (Viveik Oberoi) for methodically wiping out his entire family.

Sigaram Thodu
Muralipandian (Vikram Prabhu) is the only son of Chellapandian (Sathyaraj), a disabled policeman who is now working in the State Crime Records Bureau and expresses a desire to see his son in the police one day. However, Murali is against becoming a policeman due to an incident which happened in his childhood; when Chellapa lost his leg during police duty, his wife fell down the stairs on hearing the news, leading to her death and left a crippled Chellapa to single-handedly look after the young Murali. His ambition is to become a bank manager, and he manages to get an interview for the same in a bank. While on a pilgrimage, Murali meets Ambujam (Monal Gajjar), a young doctor who is travelling with her chaperone, who is her grandmother Aishwarya (Kovai Sarala). Ambujam initially thinks ill of Murali due to unsavoury incidents which occur between them during the journey, but after she finds out about Murali’s true character and he helps her Aishwarya recover from dehydration, she falls in love with him. She expresses a distaste for marrying policemen, which impresses Murali.

Katham Katham
Nandha (Nandha Durairaj) is an upright sub-inspector of police who has been transferred 15 times in three years. He is then transferred in a police station based in Pollachi. There, Police Inspector Pandian (Natarajan Subramaniam) is in the pay of Minister Periyannan (Rajagopalan), who runs in own government in the place. Nandha is shocked to note that Pandian and the entire police department are corrupt. Thereafter, Nandha tries hard to enforce the order. Soon, both policemen clash. Pandian becomes an honest policeman after Periyannan’s men attempt to kill him, and he is revived with blood transfusions from the public. However, Nandha does not believe that he has truly changed. After a fellow honest sub-inspector gets killed by Periyannan’s men, Nandha blames Pandian, and through short routes, becomes inspector himself. He arranges for Periyannan and his men to clash with Pandian, but in the ensuing fight, Pandian kills them all, while Nandha walks away.
