Vicky (Prabhas), an expert in gaming software, lives in Australia and never compromises in his life, a principle he adheres to since his childhood. But Vicky changes the condition that if at least 1 relative of Maggie does not get convinced that Vicky is the correct match for Maggie then he would forget Maggie and leave the contract, else he would marry Maggie and does not leave the contract.Soon, the relatives begin pouring infrom India and among them, to Vicky’s shock, is Priya, who happens to be the groom’s cousin. During the 4 days, with the help of Priya, he manages to win over the entire family. It is clear that Vicky is going to win Maggie’s father’s challenge. Priya leaves for India on the night before Vicky wins the challenge, heartbroken at the thought that Vicky is marrying someone else. Asthamanam is an adventure trip of four boys and two girls who go into a forest for trekking. What the forest has in store for the young people forms the arc of the film.

The film opens with the birth of Baba (Rajinikanth), who is a ‘baba amsa sambhootudu’. Baba grows up as an atheist and hot-blooded man, but he is a Good Samaritan. His lifestyle includes consuming alcohol, smoking substances, and chewing tobacco. His mother (Sujatha) and maternal uncle (M. N. Nambiar) are ardent devotees of Mahavatar Babaji (the Mahaavtar Baba who is supposed to be 2000 years old and who lives in the Himalayas). Chamundeswari (Manisha Koirala) stays in the neighborhood of Baba’s residence who often quarrels with Baba but eventually falls in love with his style and falls for his attitude.

The film opens with Thiruthani (Bharath) beating up men who cause trouble to his sister for celebrating Diwali. Duraipandi (Rajkiran), an ex-military officer, watches the fight along with many others. However, Duraipandi becomes furious when Thiruthani refuses to save an athlete from having his leg broken despite his pleas for help. It is here that Thiruthani justifies his actions saying that everyone stood watching as his unconscious mother was left locked up in a burning building for fear that they would be killed by the local rowdies. Meanwhile, Thiruthani falls for Sugeesha (Sunaina), an orphan who goal in life is to marry a person with a large family. Soon, Thiruthani gets involved in an accident causing severe damages to his skull. The doctor privately tells him that he would only live for six months. Unable to bear the thought of his family being depressed upon his death, he becomes harsh with them, believing this would make them hate him. Seeing this, Duraipandi advises that he should kill the local rowdies so that everyone can live peacefully and that he will not face jail as he is about to die. As time passes, Thiruthani becomes one of the most wanted criminals. Shocked at this news, the doctor informs Thiruthani that he lied only because of Duraipandi’s request. Furious, Thiruthani advances on Duraipandi only to find out that the latter has lost one leg in the Army. The climax shows Duraipandi taking the blame for the murders (as no one has seen Thiruthani) and getting shot.

Priya gives birth to a son and Vijay takes him away. Priya’s father tells her that the baby is stillborn. She is very depressed and thinks that her son is still alive. Vijay brings up the son. Many years later, Priya comes close to where Vijay lives and sees a boy. She follows that boy who turns out to be her son and he leads Priya to Vijay. They were united. A doting brother who works as a cab driver tries to hunt down three notorious criminals in Kolkata who had harmed his sister.

The story revolves around Maran (Kishore), who works in a bakery. He and his wife (Latha Rao) are searching for a house to rent. A shady broker (Scissor Manohar) gets Maran a house under his budget, but he has to face the sanctions of the house owner (Bala Singh) if he wants to stay in the house. The house owner will only allow a family of four, but Maran has three children, making it five members in his family, including him and his wife. Maran has no other option, so he lies to the house owner and hides one of his kids in the box which he uses to load his bakery goods..[5]
