Manoj a journalist sets on to find out an answer for the question “Is there any use of Porn industry to the Country? Manoj tries to find out the opinion of the common people on Porn websites,he ends up in a big jolt and shock about his findings. In this research, he happens to see his friend Ankith wife’s naked video on a pornographic website. When Manoj shares this information, Ankith kills himself in shame. Manoj begins his secret investigation, on how could a personal video get posted online. Along with Daniel, his fellow journalist and his buddy Sub-Inspector Imran he gets deep into this. In this investigation, they find out it was Vikram and his associates who operate the porn websites and their various ways and means of collecting the videos. Though Manoj writes about Vikram in his magazine with proper evidence, Vikram escapes with an anticipatory bail. How Manoj and Imran traps Vikarm and does Vikram and his associates get caught and brought to justice forms the rest of the story.
The movie is about Ilangovan aka Ilango (Parthiban), a middle-class youth, who dreams to get his sister Kavitha (Mallika married to a millionaire. He is very keen on becoming rich and falls in love with Roopa (Lakshmi Rai), daughter of a rich industrialist. Now and then Ilango comes across Chellappa (Vadivelu), a petty thief, and takes him for a fun ride. A sequence of events makes Ilango realize that money is not everything in life. He finally, along with Chellappa, takes efforts to get his sister married to the boy whom she loves.
The film opens with the killing of a police officer by cocaine mafia lord Bhai (Hareesh Peradi) and his henchmen. Kokila (Nayanthara) struggles to find a job to take care of her parents (Saranya Ponvannan and R. S. Shivaji) and sister (Jacqueline Fernandez). She stumbles on the cocaine smuggling business of Mohan (Charles Vinoth). When her mother is diagnosed with lung cancer, Kokila is forced to work for Mohan. Her cunning earns her a name in the business. The new inspector Guru (Saravanan) is a no-nonsense cop and cracks down on drug dealers. Kokila is almost caught a couple of times but manages to evade the authorities. She convinces Mohan to kill two of his henchmen suspected of leaking information and then decides to quit the business. Mohan seemingly accepts but tries to rape her. She beats him up and tries to flee with her family but is caught by Bobi, who had recruited her initially. He demands that she deliver a one last consignment of 100 kilos to Alphonse (Rajendran). Kokila is forced to accept and enlists the help of her family. She delivers the load, but it is revealed that she switched most of it for salt. She then tricks Bobi to double-cross Bhai and then frames him for swindling Bhai. She has him killed and continues the shipment run. On the way, she is caught by the police, who were Alphonse’s men in disguise. She manages to avoid getting raped and kills off her captors. Guru tracks her down and arrests her. Kokila makes a deal with him to nab Bhai and bring the whole drug business down. The plan works out, Bhai is shot dead, and Kokila and her family escape punishment. In the end, the family starts a business of Kolam powder, calling it ‘Kokila Kolamavu’.
Prabhu(Prasanna), Ilango(Krishna), Sundar(Karthik), Priya and Indra are the best of friends at college, swearing to never lose touch with one another later in life. They manage to get jobs in the same company but Ilango, was whisked away to his village by his dictatorial father(Vijayan) and forced into marriage with Eeswari(Kanika). He then runs away while the friends assume that he is in Bombay with his new wife. A few years later the remaining four are still friends, working in the same company and even living in one house. Prabhu meets Eeswari on the train and without knowing that she is Ilango’s wife, falls in love with her. When the truth comes out she becomes good friends with the gang while they promise to find Ilango and reunite them.
Siva (R. Madhavan) is based out of Srirangam and he comes to Chennai to join a college. He stays with his sister (Anu Hasan) and her husband (Raghuvaran). Siva does not like his brother-in-law and never talks to him, despite several attempts made by his sister to convince both.
Siva meets Priya (Meera Jasmine) during a bus journey, and it is love at first sight for him. He again meets her on a few more occasions and proposes his love, but she warns him to stop following her despite liking him. Siva understands that Priya’s brother Bhaskar (Atul Kulkarni) is a local goon, and he attacks anyone who follows his sister.

Brahmin boy Satya (Navdeep) comes from Nagercoil to Chennai to join an engineering college. His problems begin when he encounters his father, the dreaded don Adhi Narayanan (Prakash Raj), and Adhi’s adopted son Kutty (Arya). Satya’s girlfriend Sandhya (Sameksha) is wounded in a shootout between Adhi’s gang and his rivals. Satya, on the prodding of ACP Thiagarajan (Adithya Menon), is all set to identify Kutty as the culprit. Intimidated and threatened by the gang and in a state of confusion, Satya is shocked when Adhi and Kutty make friendly overtures to him. Satya’s life takes a comical and drastic turn.
Santhosh is a call taxi driver in Chennai. Advocate Ashwini is a regular customer in his cab. Their friendship soon turns into love. Meanwhile, a gang of four members is involved in murdering cab drivers. One day Ashwini’s father wants to meet Santhosh. Since he had a trip to Pondy, he gives it to his friend and goes to meet her father.
Bala (Vivek), a poor priest, lives in an agraharam in Kumbakonam, looking after his aged parents and performing puja at a Perumal temple. Circumstances force him to accept help from a hired killer Poochi (Venkatraj J) to save his father from a jail sentence. Life takes an unfortunate turn for Bala. Unable to bear the taunts of the neighbours, Bala’s parents commit suicide. Bala is forced to leave the agraharam. He begins a new life with Poochi in Kancheepuram. Vaishali (Shwetha Bandekar), a young Saurashtrian who sells poli on the streets, comes into his life. Soon they get engaged. Meanwhile, a close friendship develops between Bala and Poochi. Bala learns of Poochi’s true identity. The police are desperate to hunt down Poochi. Bala is a good influence on Poochi, and he reforms a cold-hearted killer. The second half is all about whether their friendship survives this war of principles.
