The film opens with the discovery of a corpse of a teenage girl who was brutally murdered.
Arun Kumar (Vishnu Vishal) is an aspiring filmmaker who wants to make a movie on psychopaths. After being rejected many times and due to pressure from his family, he decides to give up his dreams and become a sub-inspector with the help of his brother-in-law Doss (Ramdoss), a police officer himself. He moves to Chennai to stay with his sister Kokila (Vinodhini Vaidyanathan), Doss, and their daughter Ammu (Abhirami). Ammu gets into trouble when she makes Arun sign like her father in her report card. Her class teacher figures this out and thinks she signed it herself. He meets and befriends Ammu’s teacher Viji (Amala Paul) and her niece Kayal (Baby Monica).
Muralipandian (Vikram Prabhu) is the only son of Chellapandian (Sathyaraj), a disabled policeman who is now working in the State Crime Records Bureau and expresses a desire to see his son in the police one day. However, Murali is against becoming a policeman due to an incident which happened in his childhood; when Chellapa lost his leg during police duty, his wife fell down the stairs on hearing the news, leading to her death and left a crippled Chellapa to single-handedly look after the young Murali. His ambition is to become a bank manager, and he manages to get an interview for the same in a bank. While on a pilgrimage, Murali meets Ambujam (Monal Gajjar), a young doctor who is travelling with her chaperone, who is her grandmother Aishwarya (Kovai Sarala). Ambujam initially thinks ill of Murali due to unsavoury incidents which occur between them during the journey, but after she finds out about Murali’s true character and he helps her Aishwarya recover from dehydration, she falls in love with him. She expresses a distaste for marrying policemen, which impresses Murali.
Bhaskar Oru Rascal
Bhaskar (Arvind Swamy) is a business tycoon and single parent. His father Rangasamy (Nassar) is a retired businessman, and Bhaskar has taken over his businesses. Bhaskar deals with all the situations in his business with rowdyism and has a crude and crass personality. This behavior earns him the name ‘Rascal’. He is a widower and has a son Aakash (Master Raghavan). Aakash and Shivani (Baby Nainika) study in the same school. Shivani’s mother Anu (Amala Paul) is also a single parent. She meets Bhaskar at the school. Shivani admires Bhaskar for his authoritative stance and treats him like a father figure.
A prequel and sequel to Vishwaroopam, RAW Agent Major Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri is given the task to eliminate Al-Qaeda terrorist Omar Qureshi and his fellow jihadis, who plan to attack New York City.
Wisam and his team travel to the UK to perform final rites of their colleague Dawkins. Nirupama gets jealous of Ashmita’s closeness with Wisam and asks her how both are related. Wisam recalls his days in Indian Army where he finds young, enthusiastic and brave young lady officer Ashmita in a parade and award ceremony. Wisam and Colonel Jagannath together finalize Ashmita for their project and she is trained by Wisam. Wisam was chosen for the mission as he is an illegitimate son of a Pakistani and his mother is an Indian woman. Wisam and Ashmita create an impression that she is raped by him and Wisam is jailed for 10 years for having an affair with an army woman failing to his duties. Wisam is imprisoned but subsequently escapes from the prison with the help of Colonel Jagannath. Wisam is now stamped as a wanted terrorist and he along with Lieutenant Roy alias Imtiaz set for their mission to join Omar’s terrorist group.
Coming back to current, Wisam, Nirupama, Ashmita and Jagannath are received by Goswami, their fellow army officer, under the instructions of his superior Eshwar Iyer. On their way in the car to handover Dawkins’ mortal remains to his family, they are attacked by a group of terrorists and their car gets into a fatal accident. While Nirupama, Ashmita and Jagannath are trapped in the car, Wisam is thrown out. Wisam and his team are further tracked down by a terrorist and he engages in a duel to stop him and subsequently kills him. Goswami succumbs to the accident and dies happily seeing his enemy’s face which used to be his wish as an army officer.
Sathyaraj in a dual role. One role is of an IPS officer (Iyer) and the other is of a dada (Venkatachalapathy). The dada throughout the film has a dark skin and sports a bald head.
Iyer believes that dadas and rowdies must be eliminated through encounters. But his father thinks one does not have the right to take any life. Dada Venkatachalapthy plants bombs at various places in the city and puts the blame on Muslims. Iyer takes Venkatachalapathy into custody. His sons Pasupathi and Gajapathi try to kill Iyer. Now Iyer’s father turns against him and joins the villain. This sets off a chain of events leading to murders.
Nandha (Nandha Durairaj) is an upright sub-inspector of police who has been transferred 15 times in three years. He is then transferred in a police station based in Pollachi. There, Police Inspector Pandian (Natarajan Subramaniam) is in the pay of Minister Periyannan (Rajagopalan), who runs in own government in the place. Nandha is shocked to note that Pandian and the entire police department are corrupt. Thereafter, Nandha tries hard to enforce the order. Soon, both policemen clash. Pandian becomes an honest policeman after Periyannan’s men attempt to kill him, and he is revived with blood transfusions from the public. However, Nandha does not believe that he has truly changed. After a fellow honest sub-inspector gets killed by Periyannan’s men, Nandha blames Pandian, and through short routes, becomes inspector himself. He arranges for Periyannan and his men to clash with Pandian, but in the ensuing fight, Pandian kills them all, while Nandha walks away.
