Praveen Jaya Ramaraju aka P.J (Nani) is the grandson of a wealthy Zamindar Rudra Ramaraju (Nagineedu). PJ is a spoilt and an arrogant youngster. His grandfather writes a will with several conditions before he dies. His will states that PJ would inherit the entire wealth only if he completes his graduation as a common man without any luxuries. PJ now has to not only complete his graduate studies but he must do it within three years and he should study in a government college in a small village called Siripuram.

Pasupon, right in the heart of the Tamil campaign. Marudhu (Vijayakanth), farmer with a big heart, stays the up its elder sister Vallikannu (Srividya) married to a good-for-nothing, Chinnukaruppandevar (Goundamani), as well as his niece, foster daughter, beautiful Pandhimeena (Radha). Because one day, Meena, accompanied with her mother, asks for an explanation to the one who deceives with his father, this one throws her of out of the house. Marudhu was eaten up with remorse, he returns to look for Sandhiya to put her under cover. The next day, he puts him a new tent. The young woman, sensitive to all these attentions, eventually falls in love with the farmer and mutually. Marudhu learns by Gowryshankar, the sad episode, where Sandhiya had to be her daughter-in-law and finally it did not come true because his son left in the lurch them at the last moment. Since the old man denied him and set under his wing Sandhiya. Marudhu promises to him at this moment, when she will be his wife, to the immense happiness of this one. But Meena surprises the lovers without their knowledge. Later, Marudhu explains to Meena and to her elder sister, the tragic past of Sandhiya and cannot thus start again, at the moment its word. Sandhiya would not support a new sentimental failure. Discouraged because lover also and for a long time, from her part, Meena pretended to poison itself and asks as ultimate wish before dying, of being the wife of Marudhu. Dum Dum Dum
Ganga (Jyothika) lives in a village and secures state second rank in XII board exams. Although she wishes to pursue engineering, her father Veluthambi (Murali) plans to get her married to Adhithya aka Adhi (Madhavan) who also hails from the same village. Adhi is a fun loving person who has just completed his law degree and prefers to enjoy his bachelor life and is not interested in marriage.
Adhi comes to the village and meets Ganga trying to convey his feelings. To his surprise, Ganga also is not interested in marriage as she wants to study engineering. Both of them decide to somehow stop the wedding by creating some problem before the wedding but all their effors go in vain as both the families get even closer following their plans.
Three amateur thieves plot to kidnap the young son of wealthy Chettiar (Santhana Bharathi) from school. They do a trial run. However, on the eve of the kidnap, the guy whose job is to operate a crane in this plan is hospitalized. The services of Avinasi a.k.a. Mumbai Xpress (Kamal Haasan), brother of Kovai Sarala, a deaf stuntman performing daredevil bike acts, is roped in. Twists and turns take place where the other two gang members are hurt, and invariably, our Mumbai Xpress is left to perform the task all by himself. He kidnaps a wrong boy Daddu (Hardhik), the illegitimate son of Ahalya (Manisha Koirala) and police officer Rao (Nassar), but manages to get a huge ransom from Chettiar by default. A brawl takes place between the original kidnap planners – Chidambaram (Pasupathy), Johnson (Vaiyapuri), and Avinasi – in handling Ahalya’s child, but Avinasi delivers the child unhurt to his mother.
Tirupathi (Prabhu Deva), Pazhani (Raju Sundaram) and Chidambaram (Nagendra Prasad) are physically impaired — one cannot see, the second is hard of hearing and the third is mute. None has a family. They are friends who begin to live under the same roof. Narmada (Jyotika) enters their lives and all three fall in love with her. The story follows their attempts to win her hand.
The story begins at Ravana’s (Prakashraj) abode and the time of Ramayana when he orders his uncle Mareesan (Jayaram) to transform into a deer to abduct Seetha. Mareesan argues with Ravana but finally complies since Idumba (Raju Eswaran) and Ravana threaten the life of Mareesan’s lover (Samiksha). Finally the said thing happens and Mareesan gets struck by the arrow by lord Rama, he becomes a rock but not before he transforms Idumba into an anklet and wears it on his leg. Times change and the modern day comes. Rajaram (Nasser) is a very rich man who owns tea estates and he has Seetha (Saranya Mohan) as his dietitian and Sri Rama (Arvind Akash) as the cook. Both Rama and Seetha are in love, on the other hand Rajaram’s relatives (M. S. Bhaskar and Mayilsamy) plan a plot to take the property. In this process, they end up planning to kill Seetha by pushing her from a mountain top. Seetha falls directly on the rock idol of Mareesan and he gets his human form. At the same time, his anklet falls off and is eaten by a fish. That fish is caught by fisherman Manickam (Nasser again) and Idumba gets his human form. The age old enmity crops up and while Mareesan vows to protect Seetha, Idumba plans to help Manickam get Rajaram’s property as half brother. What happens from there forms the rest of the story..
The movie opens to a prologue, where King Parasbaram (Radha Ravi), ruler of a small rival kingdom and the nine ministers of the great Empire of Vikata Nagaram are on their way to a Chinese consulate’s mansion. They are warmly welcomed by General Wang (Wilson Ng) and courtesan Hong (Vivienne Tseng) once they reach there. The Chinese consulate, headed by Chao Gong Gong (Nickson Cheng), wishes to engage in trade with the people of the Kingdom of Vikata Nagaram and reap the benefits. Thus, the ministers strike a deal with Parasbaram and the Chinese to help them after being promed a huge share of the benefits. The Foreign Affairs Minister of Vikata Nagaram, Nandivarma Rayar (Joe Malloori) objects to this, saying that he doesn’t want to betray the King and his people for money. Chao Gong Gong then orders courtesan Hong to kill him with a poisoned needle from her hair.
Mahesh (Vidharth) is a thug in Thanjavur whose only ambition is to emerge as the Number 1 rowdy with his name topping the list of wanted criminals in the local police station. He is called ‘Yamakunji’ (junior lord of dead) by his friends, for he wants to send fear in the spine of his opponents. He indulges in all unlawful activities to achieve his mission. For his mother (Kalairani), he is the best son on earth. She earns her livelihood running an idly shop. Mahesh meets Mythili (Kavitha Nair), a school student and daughter of a bus conductor Ponnusamy (Ilavarasu). Mythili falls for him; however, Ponnusamy opposes their affair. Things take a turn when Karuppu Balu (Kishore), the number one rowdy in the area, comes out of jail. Mahesh incurs the wrath of the aspiring MLA for no fault of his. Things take a turn when Mythili elopes from her house and Mahesh is forced to kill Balu. The movie ends with a strong message.
