A young woman (Sneha) who’s always hidden her ardor for her handsome neighbor (Tarun) decides to take a risk by enlisting her devious sister’s matchmaking help. But the plan backfires when she’s betrayed by her jealous sibling, who proclaims her own feelings for the young man. Devastated, the girl abandons her quest for romance, but all may not be lost when the object of her affection happens upon her diary that reveals her love for him.
Arun (Ramesh Arvind) is married to Leelavathi (Kalpana) in a forced marriage. He is embarrassed by his wife’s plain looks and her weight. When he meets Priya (Heera Rajagopal) – who works in a building construction company, he hides from her the fact that he is married and has an affair with her.
When he takes Priya with him on a vacation to Bangalore, he bumps into his old friend Dr. Sakthivel Gounder (Kamal Haasan) – an orthopedic surgeon from Coimbatore who is also in Bangalore with his wife Palani (Kovai Sarala) and his son Anand – travelling with him in the same flight and even staying in the same hotel. Sakthivel is called to Arun’s room in the night – as Arun has slipped his disc and the hotel doctor is unavailable – and bumps into Priya, thus finding out about the affair.
Coimbatore-based Aadhi and Jeeva have been close friends since childhood. Aadhi’s father Ramachandran is very supportive of Aadhi’s interests in music. Aadhi joins engineering and falls for his college mate Nila who was his childhood friend in school. Guru hopes that Krishna will make him an MD, so he tries to do everything to please him. Krishna falls for a model Seema (Mamta Mohandas), whom Guru also fancies. Coming to know that his boss is interested, he decides to give up on his feelings for her so as to achieve his career goals. Krishna asks Guru to help him woo Seema, and Guru follows his every order. After a sequence of events, he realizes that he cannot forget his feelings for Seema. He soon starts to purposefully sabotage Krishna’s attempts of becoming closer to Seema. Whether Seema feels the same way about Guru or Krishna wins her heart forms the rest of the story.

Due to insistence, Raja goes into a flash back. 3 years ago, he reaches Mumbai, where he plans to get admitted into the prestigious Ramachandra College of management, one of the most premier institutes in the nation.
