The story is set in a suburb of Madurai. Suryan (Bharath) and Chandran (Bharath) are twins. Suryan, the elder of the two is soft spoken guy who works at a local lending library and he falls in love with Manimekala (Bhavana), daughter of Namasivayam (Mahadevan) the local politician-don and MLA. Chandran, the younger one, works as a mortuary assistant in the local government hospital and he’s one among Namasivayam’s bad guys who are in charge of his election campaign. Chandran is romantically linked to a local girl,Tamizhselvi (Sandhya). Namasivayam comes to know about his daughter’s love affair with Suryan and he orders to some killers to kill Suryan. But accidentally they attack Chandran who succeeds in escaping from them.

The story revolves through three different life stages of Varun and Nithya’s life.

Kannan (Vijay) is the only son of Jaisankar and Sri Vidya. He’s very rich and spends a lot of money every day. Kannan is in charge of arranging the college cultural function. He happens to hear Manimekalai (Dimple) sing in a temple, and he asks her to sing in the college function, by laying roads for her entire area, repairing all plumbing problems. But she refuses. She gets him arrested for eve teasing and, triggered by that, Kannan tries to marry Manimekalai by force. That fails miserably. Then Kannan’s mother reveals that he is not their biological son, but an adopted orphan. Then his mother dies suddenly. His father also becomes paralysed. Kannan has a change of heart and serves his immobile father.
