Raghavan (Sarathkumar) and Velu (Vadivelu) work as cooks in a non-veg hotel. Raghavan loves Geetha (Kiran) who is the daughter of a rich man (Vijayan), but her father is against this love and insults him as a poor man. Raghavan challenges that he will be rich in a year. There is a subplot in the story, for Meenakshi (Sharmili), a daughter from a rich family; she is the apple of the eye of the family. Meenakshi ran home with her lover Raju, who worked as a driver to her house. He tells that his friend Dinesh will help them. However, Raju escaped because he saw a bad dream where he is killed by her family as if it will happen in reality. Due to that he vanishes. Raghavan understood her plight and helps her.
Siva (S. J. Surya) is an investigative scribe who shares a live-in relationship with rich and bratty Madhu (Nila). They have hot-headed run-ins and even hotter patch-ups. Things come to a head when Madhu starts a restaurant with a brother of her friend. Nosy and envious Siva cannot take it, and this causes a split between the duo. Fun starts as the fantasy element appears in the form of their apparitional alter egos. Eventually they come together, but there is plenty of over-the-top entertainment aimed at a post-teen youth audience. Anbe Aaruyire features the memories of each other in a human lookalike appearances. These memories remind them of their good times and the inner love for each other, which help in their reunion.
Oru Naal Oru Kanavu
The story revolves around Maya (Sonia Agarwal), a college student, who always wants to triumphs in all her endeavors. She comes across a middle class youth, Cheenu (Srikanth), a happy-go-lucky-youngster, who strives to work hard to get his sisters married well. A few encounters (Maya and Cheenu) results in wordy duels between them leading to Maya challenging Cheenu that she will make him fall in love with her. Her further course of action to achieve her challenge leaves Cheenu frustrated and he decides to take revenge on her by pretending to fall in love with her. Maya who starts to spend more time with Cheenu comes to know of his kind heart and his good nature and eventually develops an honest love towards him. She even helps him in setting his own business house.Slowly Cheenu too comes to know of Maya’s nobleness and generosity land falls in love with her. Trouble comes in the form of her brothers who threaten Cheenu of dire consequences. Cheenu resolves to earn more and become rich and then hold the hands of Maya. But Maya has plans otherwise. It was one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year 1988. The film had musical score by Manoj – Gyan and was released on 23 September 1988. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Sindhoora Puvvu.
Raj Kumar (Mahesh Babu) goes on holiday in Khandala and stays with his uncle Dhananjay (Prakash Raj). He comes across Rani (Preity Zinta) and falls for her. However, he ends up teasing her and she begins to despise him. She is determined to avoid him, but he won’t leave her alone. Raj Kumar saves Rani from some thugs, and she is impressed by his heroism. After spending some time together, she begins to like him and eventually love him.
Unfortunately his uncle has made other plans for him: He reveals the past of the hero’s parents and his family. He mentions the challenge that he made with his in-laws to get the hero married to his daughter. Complying to this, the hero informs the heroine that their relationship needs to end there.

Ashok (Raghava Lawrence) is a good-for-nothing youth whose only aim is to enjoy life by drinking and dancing the night away with his friends. To this end, he even swindles his father (Pyramid Natarajan) regularly off of his hard earned money. He meets Priya (Anu Prabhakar) and soon her beauty and outlook on life make him fall for her. When he proposes to her, threatening to kill himself if she doesn’t accept his love, she promises that she would accept him if he makes a name for himself. Spurred by her words, Ashok starts working hard. But what he doesn’t know is that Priya is already in love with Arvind (Kunal) and that her promise to him was just to prevent him from taking the extreme step on her rejection.
