Kandukondain Kandukondain
Kandukondain Kandukondain opens with military personnel Major Bala (Mammootty) fighting in a war and losing his left leg in a grenade explosion. After the opening credits, Sowmya (Tabu) and Meenakshi “Meenu” (Aishwarya Rai) are shown as the adult daughters of Padma (Srividya) living in a Chettiar mansion in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu with their maternal grandfather Chandrasekhar (Unnikrishnan Namboothiri), maidservant Chellatha (S. N. Lakshmi) and younger sister Kamala (Shamili). Sowmya is a school principal while Meenu is passionate about classic Tamil poetry, music and dance. Major Bala, one of the rich men in their village falls in love with Meenu, but Meenu falls in love with Srikanth (Abbas). Manohar (Ajith Kumar) is a director who comes to Meenu’s house for a film shoot. Sowmya and Manohar fall for each other but an issue crops up between the two and whether Manohar manages to win her back forms the rest of their part of the story.

Vijayanand
Vijay, a 19-year-old boy, starts his transport business at a very young age from Gadag, a small city in the heart of North Karnataka. Although he faced many difficulties in the beginning, he became the owner of 4300 vehicles.

Paarai
Durairaj (Sarath Kumar) is a lorry driver who is tough as a nail. He had a bitter childhood, has no relatives or friends, and his only solace is Jayaram (Jayaram), his cleaner who is just the opposite of him. Jayaram is a happy-go-lucky guy who dotes on his wife Mallika (Meena), mother (Vadivukkarasi), and daughter, and dreams of making enough money to build a small house for his family. Durai and Jayaram share a special bond, as they understand each other well.
On his way to see his family, Jayaram dies in an accident, and Durai goes to his village with the body. There he finds that Jayaram’s family needs his help, and out of sympathy, he decides to settle there and build a small house according to his friend’s last wish. There he comes across a local landlord Vijayan (Vijayan), who cheats the illiterate villagers by giving them loans and later taking over their property. Then there is a tea shop owner Vasantha (Ramya Krishnan), on whom the entire men folk lust. But she is hardworking, and at the same time foul-mouthed and a terror. Vasantha’s brother, who is in love with Vijayan’s daughter, starts the fight between the Vijayan and Durai. Durai works hard to make a house for Mallika, and when the villagers suspect his good intentions, he proves to them that he has a sisterly affection towards her, as he has a soft corner for Vasantha. As the fight goes on for Durai and Vijayan, Vijayan destroys the house that Durai built for his friends. Of this anger, he tries to get revenge. How Durai wins over the villagers and fights against injustice against Vijayan and his son forms the rest of the story.

Kaavalan
Bhoominathan (Vijay) idolises Muthuramalingam (Rajkiran), a rich powerful landlord, and at the request of his parents, he accepts to work for Muthuramalingam as his bodyguard. There enters Muthuramalingam’s rival, who has lost his daughter since she committed suicide, the reason being rejection by Muthuramalingam’s son. While Bhoomi protects Muthuramalingam, his rival threatens the life of his daughter Meera (Asin)
Bhoomi is sent to college along with Meera and her friend Madhu (Mithra Kurian) to protect them from the threat. Bhoomi joins the same class where Meera studies, as he has previously discontinued his education. Meera does not like Bhoomi following her as a bodyguard, and therefore plans to divert him. Meera calls Bhoomi over his mobile phone from a private number and introduces herself as “Ammukutty”. Initially, Bhoomi hates the mobile call as it will disturb him but later on develops a liking towards Ammukutty and slowly love blossoms for Bhoomi without knowing that it is Meera herself.

Agadu
Karthik and his friends plan a trip to Kodaikanal where they meet a doctor and his 12-year-old daughter Shalini. While sight-seeing, they get in trouble with a gang that grows cannabis illegally. The next morning, Karthik is found dead and Shalini is missing.

Coimbatore Mappillai
Balu (Vijay) comes to the modern city and stays with his friend who claims he has a job. Actually, he is also unemployed. Both of them are tenants of a girl named Sumithra (Sanghavi). First, Balu and Sumithra get into fights, but then their arguments and fights turn into love. Meanwhile, Sumithra’s cousin Mahesh (Karan) is also in love with her. One day, Balu witnesses a thief stealing a necklace, and when he tries to catch him, the thief inserts the necklace in Balu’s pocket, and Balu is blamed for stealing it. Sumithra starts hating Balu. Taking advantage of this situation, Mahesh creates a rift between them by hiring goons to attack them, and he blames Balu for that too. Balu explains his sad story to her grandmother Paattiamma (Nirmalamma) that he lost his mother during small age and could not endure the torture of his stepmother, so he escaped from home. Paatiamma believes him, but Mahesh takes revenge by setting up wires and making her paralyzed. In the hospital, Sumithra overhears Mahesh and his father (Vinu Chakravarthy) wanting to kill her to steal their colony. Balu pays the medical bills and attempts to commit suicide, but Sumithra saves him. Mahesh, who tried to kill him, is killed in a stampede. The film ends with Balu and Sumithra living happily.

Skin In Flames
Frederick Salomon, a war photojournalist who became worldwide famous for capturing the image of a girl flying through the air as consequence of an explosion, returns to the country where he took the celebrated picture twenty years before. He is back to receive an award, as many consider him an essential piece in the recent peace efforts in the troubled country. But a local journalist called Hanna doesn’t agree, and wants to kill him for a reason only Salomon knows.
