Kandhan Karunai
The film revolves around Lord Murugan, his birth, marriage and his acceptance of the post of the head of the army of heaven. In Hinduism, there are six abodes of lord Muruga, known as the “Arupadaiveedu”. The story behind each of the abodes are portrayed choronologically in the film. It starts with Swamimalai, where Lord Muruga (Master Sridhar) teaches the meaning of the word ‘OM’ to his father, Lord Shiva (Gemini Ganesan). He goes to Palani Hills after a fight over a sacred fruit, that is his second abode. Then he wins over the demon king Surapadman in Thiruchendur and that is his third abode. The King of heaven, Lord Indra offers his Daughter’s hand in appreciation of Lord Muruga’s Victory and he marries her in Thirupparamkunram, his fourth abode. He later marries Valli in his fifth abode of Thiruthani, later after a short dispute between both his wives they amicably settle in Pazhamudircholai, his sixth abode. All the events are summarised by Nakkeerar, a great Tamil Poet portrayed by Sirkazhi Govindarajan at the end of the film.

Arasatchi
Siddharth lives a middle-classed lifestyle in India along with his dad, retired Justice Shravan Mathur, mom, Laxmi, and sister, Shweta. His dad has been assigned the task to investigate the collapse of a school-building which killed 20 children. The building contractor attempts to bribe Shravan to no avail. When he molests Shweta, Siddharth beats him up, gets arrested, is tried in Court, and sentenced to jail. In jail he is told that his father and mother have been killed by thieves abroad a train headed to Mumbai, and Shweta is missing. After his discharge he attempts in vain to locate Shweta. He takes up employment with a five star hotel, romances the owner’s daughter, and decides to kill defense lawyers. He successfully kills advocates Brahmanandan, Jankiram, and scares off Karuna Sagar who was ready to represent a male who had sexually molested a woman named Gayetri. While the accused has no one to represent him in Court, a Delhi-based Supreme Court lawyer, Ashok Mehta, agrees to represent him despite of threats from Siddharth, who is determined to kill him at any cost little knowing that his past will not only re-visit him, but a witness, Major Vishwanath, will come forward, ready to identify him as the killer of Advocate Jankiram.

Kallapetty
Yogi is a carefree young man, who hangs out with his friend mostly, and spends a little time trying to be a two bit broker, for everything from real estate to eggs of a ‘pon vandu’. His mother, a vegetable vendor, has borrowed money from Dandapani (Namo Narayan) at usurious rates, and is at his mercy. He is the kind of guy who dreams of lakhs in commissions, but is lucky to get a couple of hundreds. Most of his time is spent drinking in the bar, and once after a ‘cutting’ session with a father he meets Jyothisha (Veni) and Rosin (Bhoomika) and finds out that their mother died after being victimized by the money and women crazy Dandapani. The two girls make a living as ‘dance girls’. Jyothisha, who had been a sorrowful person slowly begins to find happiness in Yogi’s company.

Girivalam
Arjun (Shaam) heads a dance troupe and Priya (Tanu Roy), one of the dancers in the troupe is in love with him. Their aim is to be the permanent fixture at the hotel of Giriprasad (Richard Rishi), a millionaire. They lose the competition but still see their dream realised when the lead dancer in the winning troupe dies. Soon, Giriprasad falls for Priya and his sincerity makes her reciprocate his feelings.

Sattam

En Purushan Kuzhandhai Maadhiri
Murugesan (Livingston) is a rich landlord in a village but is illiterate as well as innocent. He is in love with his cousin Maheshwari (Devayani) right from childhood. Maheshwari also likes Murugesan but she wants him to overcome his innocence and be brave. Santhamoorthy (Ponnambalam) is Murugesan’s half brother and enmity prevails between him and Murugesan. Chinthamani (Vindhya) is a dancer who comes to Murugesan’s village to perform. Chinthamani’s mother forces her into prostitution but Murugesan saves her and accommodates in his farm house.
Murugesan and Maheshwari’s wedding is fixed and the day before wedding, Santhamoorthy tries to kill Murugesan but Murugesan fights back the goons. Murugesan who is drunk now rushes to his farmhouse to get some weapons to kill Santhamoorthy. Chinthamani who lives in the farm house tries to stop Murugesan from committing the murder and accidentally they enter into a physical relationship. Murugesan feels guilty of the incident and wants to cancel his wedding with Maheshwari. But Maheshwari’s father (R. Sundarajan) convinces Murugesan to not cancel the wedding.

The Legend
