Set in the year 1987, the movie depicts the life of Krishnakumar alias Kittu (Vishnu), a Dalit youth whose main ambition is to become a collector. He is influenced by the ideas of Chinnarasu (R. Parthiepan), a local Dalit leader who had also sponsored his education. Chinnarasu and Kittu try to fight against the rampant caste discrimination meted out to them by the upper caste people, but are unable to do much about it as the police and courts are biased towards the upper castes. One day, Kittu sees his classmate Gomathi (Sri Divya), who is from the upper caste, discriminate against a Dalit girl. He admonishes her publicly for her act of caste discrimination, which makes her repent her behaviour. Gomathi eventually falls in love with Kittu, but Kittu maintains a distance as they are from different castes, though he too is in love with her.
As a child, Paari (Atharvaa) lost his father who tried to stop the war between his native and neighboring village as they fought over sharing a pond water. Years later, Paari is a young man who returns from Singapore but the battle between two villages is still on. Mean while, Paari is in love with Thamarai (Anandhi), daughter of rich village man (Lal) who also owns the pond and is adamant not to supply water to the nearby village.

Kathir (Vijay Sethupathi) is a wannabe rowdy, whose only aim is to run a bar on his own. He is just back from five years of prison life and it was for his area councilor, who promised him to provide a posh life. Then, we have Yazhini (Madonna Sebastian) who loses her IT job during recession and due to financial crisis, she stays in the small flat opposite Kathir. The rest of the film is all about how these two people with drastically different dreams gel with ease and develop a liking for each other.

The film follow two main plots- The first shows Sachin’s childhood to his career till 1999. The second focuses on his transformation as the ‘God of Cricket’ till his first world cup win. The film is mainly narrated by Sachin with some narration of Harsha Bhogle and Boria Majumdar. The film follows a scene-wise narration of different celebrities including fellow cricketers and actors. Most of the scenes in the film are depicted through video recordings of Sachin’s personal life, interviews and cricket matches.
Manoranjan (Kamal Haasan) is a leading film star who is immensely popular among his fans; however, he is beset with several personal problems. 25 years back, he had been forced to marry Varalakshmi (Urvashi), the daughter of noted film director Poornachandra Rao (K. Viswanath), despite being in a relationship with a woman named Yamini. He is an alcoholic and his teenage son Manohar (Ashwin) despises him. He has a daughter Manonmani (Parvathy) who was born out of wedlock to Yamini and was raised by Yamini’s husband Jacob Zachariah (Jayaram) after Yamini’s death. She also despises Manoranjan. He has been diagnosed with advanced stage brain cancer and has only a few more months to live, which is unknown to anyone including his own family.
