36-year-old Vasanthi (Jyothika) is a UD clerk in the Revenue Department. Her husband Tamizhselvan (Rahman) works at All India Radio. Tamizhselvan aspires to emigrate to Ireland, but Vasanthi cannot accompany him as most Irish companies refuse her job applications because of her age being a problem. There is nothing interesting about her life; she leads a mundane life but she craves for a change.
One day, Vasanthi is summoned by the IG, Rajan (Nassar) to his office and she learns that the President of India would like to have a conversation with her. The meeting turns ends in disaster after she faints in front of the President and she becomes the subject of Facebook jokes and before long, she watches helplessly as her husband and daughter Mithila (Amritha Anil) fly away to Ireland.

Palakattu Madhavan (Vivek) is a lazy, irresponsible man. Embarrassed his wife Lakshmi (Sonia Agarwal) earns more than him, he quits his job out of spite. He then adopts the old woman Pattu Maami (Sheela) as a surrogate mother because she offers to pay cash for the opportunity. The character “Palakkattu Madhavan” is also an acknowledgement of a character with the same name in the movie Antha Ezhu Naatkal starring Bhagyaraj and Ambika.

Pandian and Pandiarajan are two notorious sons of the village cinema theater owner V. K. Ramasamy. Pandian goes to a neighbouring village to see a girl as arranged by his father towards his marriage and ends up in the wrong house. Coincidentally, those in the wrong house are also expecting a lad to see their daughter on the same time and the same day. Contrary to real time arranged marriages, Pandian goes to see the girl totally un-aided by parents, relatives and friends. Nevertheless, he takes a liking to the girl, Seetha and decides to marry her. Seetha likes the lad and decides to accept the proposal.
Meanwhile, Seetha’s marriage broker shows up and clarifies that Pandian was supposed to have gone to see some other girl but ended up in the wrong house. Hearing this, Pandian, Seetha and Seetha’s parents seem disappointed. Pandian’s father fixes dates for her marriage to the girl originally chosen for him — Revathi, a school teacher’s daughter. Pandian’s adamance to marry Seetha causes a strange turn of events. Pandiyarajan, the younger brother, finally marries Revathi while Pandian ties the knot with this love Seetha.

Madhava (Madhavan) is a doctor, and a single appearance has made him the heartthrob of thousands of girls. He marries Simi (Simran), but a revelation about his past separates them and takes them as far as divorce. They remain friends though, even going so far as to fix up each other’s second marriages. Simi decides to get Madhava married to Chella (Sneha), a nurse at his hospital, while he tries to fix up her marriage with a dancer Azhagu (Lawrence Raghavendra). Madhava and Chella’s wedding and Simi and Azhagu’s wedding are on the same date. Azhagu then marries his cousin due to his father’s greed for wealth. Chella’s parents find out about Madhava’s past and call off the wedding. In the end, Madhava and Simi remarry. Chella marries Kumaran (Vivek), Madhava’s colleague, who was interested in her ever since he became Madhava’s understudy in the hospital.

Surya (Prashanth) is a carefree youth living in Malaysia with his brother Chandramohan (Raghuvaran) and sister-in-law Devi (Sukanya). Chandramohan and Devi are childless because of a problem with Chandramohan. Surya falls in love with dancer Priya (Riya Sen) and manages to steal her heart too. Just when things seem happy, a bombshell is dropped by a Sister Mary who tells Surya that he is the father of a small girl Pooja. Pooja must undergo an operation to save her life but insists on seeing her dad before agreeing to the operation. Surya agrees to pose as her dad and is forced to do so on a more permanent basis even after the operation is done. He is driven out of the house and loses Priya, who agrees to wed an earlier suitor, Shyam (Sanjay Asrani). Person who happens to be the dad of Pooja’s mother wants to kill Surya for cheating his daughter but ends up being arrested by police. Second half shifts to Cruise ship, where Chandramohan finds out that Pooja is actually his daughter. The film ends with Surya and Priya reuniting.

Sathya is an unemployed youth from Thanjavur] who goes to Trichy every month to meet his old childhood friend Sivakozhundhu, who is a hotel manager and spend his day with the latter’s salary. One such time, he meets Ramya, a bank manager, and falls in love with her. He believes that if he sees a girl three times a day casually, she will be her lucky lady. He meets Ramya twice and goes all over Trichy with Sivakozhundhu in search of her. He decides to stay there that night. Just before 12:00, he sees Ramya celebrating her birthday in the hostel opposite to Sivakozhundhu’s room. The next day, he proposes to her in her bank.
Meanwhile, Sivakozhundhu decides to send Sathya off by all means. Sathya is in turn appointed as Sivakozhundhu’s assistant in a 2.5 star hotel, where Sivakozhundhu worked as a manager earlier. To improve their hotel’s condition, he asks for a loan from Ramya’s bank and uses it. The hotel is developed. One day, Sathya and Ramya are chased by thugs, who are the henchmen of a lady whom Ramya chucked out of the hostel as she had stolen other’s valuables. Sathya saves Ramya from the thugs. The next day, Ramya tells him that she had once committed a murder and has gone to prison for the offense. This frightens Sathya, but Ramya says that once in Chennai, she was chased by a dog, whose owner is her former boss. She kicks the dog and it dies, but the Blue Cross members see this and take Ramya to court, where she is imprisoned for 10 days and fined Rs.5000 for killing the dog. Sathya laughs at this. Ramya is hurt and asks him to get out of the station or else she would go out of town. That night, Sathya and Sivakozhundhu decide to commit a crime and go to prison so that they could understand the pain of being in prison. They get heavily drunk and beat up “Scorpio” Shankar, a local don.
